The Modern House
Albert Hill, Matt Gibberd and Jonathan Bell
£29.95'The new architecture is a backdrop for life, a synthesis of techniques and approaches honed over decades and dovetailed into culture. The Modern House was formed to celebrate these remarkable structures and bring these individual passions to a wider audience. Contemporary architecture should be of its time, but not forgotten. These are the visions that shaped the way we want to live now and in the future.'
The Modern House book surveys some of the finest living spaces we sold in our first ten years of business (2005-2015). Readers will now find it republished for 2020 complete with a new foreword by co-founder Matt Gibberd.
The four sections – town houses, conversions, country houses and apartments – feature best-in-class examples from the wide range of homes The Modern House is proud to represent. Early Modernist icons like the Isokon Building – London’s mini Bauhaus – and Berthold Lubetkin’s High Point sit alongside accomplished contemporary projects from names like Carl Turner, John Pawson and David Adjaye.
Along with industry-leading photography are histories of each project and an extended essay by Jonathan Bell, former architecture editor for Wallpaper*.
